NEWPORT County boss Justin Edinburgh has confirmed that former Wales international David Pipe and midfielder Mike Flynn have been told they won’t be offered deals beyond the end of this season, the Argus can exclusively reveal.

However, both players ARE available for selection throughout the remainder of this campaign.

The Argus responded directly to fan requests this morning to investigate messageboard and terrace rumours that five Newport County players were not being picked for financial reasons, at the insistence of the club.

The was strenuously denied and manager Justin Edinburgh has now confirmed that he decided to inform both Pipe and Flynn that they were going to be leaving the club at the end of the season.

Both players were five games away from triggering an automatic contract extension, but after discussions, both players have agreed to withdraw that clause from their terms.

“David and Flynny are available for selection, both have agreed to take that clause out of their deals and both of them could play at the weekend, they are still very much involved,” he said.

“But they know they aren’t going to be getting deals after the end of this season.

“And in the interests of clarity, this is 100% my decision and absolutely nothing to do with any of the directors’.”

There is absolutely no truth in speculation surrounding Tom Naylor, Danny Crow or Ryan Jackson.

Naylor is a loan player, Crow is already contracted for next season and the club have opened contract negotiations with Jackson over extending his one-year deal.
