WALES star Gareth Bale has hailed the incredible team spirit on and off the pitch that he believes will take the nation all the way to Euro 2016.

Chris Coleman’s men followed up Friday’s point against top seeds Bosnia-Herzegivina with a nervy 2-1 victory over Cyprus at the Cardiff City Stadium on Monday night.

Bale produced a moment of magic with a sublime back heel assist for Hal Robson-Kanu to put the hosts 2-0 up midway through the first half after the opener from substitute David Cotterill.

But Vincent Laban’s goal for Cyprus before the break and a red card for Wales midfielder Andy King just after half-time made life difficult.

Bale believes it was the togetherness of the squad that saw them through to top the group ahead of their next big test in Belgium on November 16.

“The team spirit is incredible,” said Bale. “We showed that on the pitch.

“We’ve all turned the corner; when we come away with Wales now everyone loves being here.

“The banter’s flying around and everybody’s having a laugh together.

“That shows on the pitch as well; we’re all fighting together and I think that shows in the results we’re getting now.

“I always thought we could hold on, even if we had to defend,” he added.

“I knew we had the pace to attack them on the break and they kept a few back, which helped us at the other end.

“It was a very tough game under difficult circumstances but we came through it and showed the togetherness in the team.”

Wales have amasses seven points from their first three games and still have star men like Aaron Ramsey and Joe Allen to return from injury.

And Bale is encouraged by the country’s best start to a qualifying campaign since 2002.

“We’ve got a lot of injuries but we haven’t moaned once and the players that came in did a fantastic job for us,” said the Real Madrid superstar.

“The minimum amount of points we wanted from these two games was four.

“We knew Bosnia was going to be tough because they’re a very good team so 0-0 was a good result.

“Against Cyprus we got the job done under difficult circumstances, which is the most important thing.

“Maybe in other campaigns we wouldn’t have done that.”
