GOALKEEPER Marcus Beauchamp has agreed a deal to sign for Newport County AFC until the end of the season having impressed in pre-season.

The 18-year-old featured in friendly matches for County this summer and continued to train with number one Joe Day and goalkeeping coach James Bittner.

Beauchamp, a former Norwich City scholar, won the 2014-15 Barclays Under-18s Premier League 'Save of the Season' award and Exiles boss Warren Feeney is pleased to have him on board.

"I'm delighted that we have been able to sign Marcus," the manager told the club's official website.

"He is a player that comes from a good background in the game and his arrival will help the squad as a whole."

"Joe Day has been fantastic so far this season and the signing of Marcus will enhance the work they do with James Bittner and will offer us healthy competition for places."

Beauchamp is looking forward to settling into the squad.

"It has taken a few weeks to get the deal over the line, but I'm pleased that the deal is now done and I can look forward to working with the players for the season ahead,” said the teenager.

"I have enjoyed working with James Bittner and Joe Day on a day-to-day basis, which has been a great experience for me.

"It is a big difference from training with the under-18s like I was doing at Norwich, and working with the first-team on a daily basis is great for my development as a player and I'm looking forward to the season ahead."
