NEWPORT County AFC have completed their transfer deadline day dealings with the loan signing of Cardiff City forward Rhys Healey.

The 21-year-old striker joins the Exiles in time for Saturday's League Two clash with Barnet at Rodney Parade.

The Manchester-born forward was signed by Cardiff in 2014 after impressing in the Welsh Premier League with Connah's Quay Nomads and has gone on to gain first-team experience with two separate loan spells with Colchester United.

Healey spent a period of last season in the Scottish Premiership with Dundee United, where he made seven appearances, before returning to the Cardiff City Stadium in the summer.

Manager Warren Feeney told the club website: "Rhys is another addition to the squad that will give us more energy up front.

"I'm glad that we have managed to bring in more strikers, especially heading into the run of games that we have on the horizon.

"Rhys has a good level of experience and has played competitive games at a higher level and you know what you are going to get out of him.

“He is a forward that is always on the lookout to upset defenders, and he is very good both in and around the box."

He added: "With the signings we have made today, it gives us good options going forward."

The loan deal for Healey will run until the start of January 2017.
