GRAHAM Westley has been officially unveiled as Newport County AFC's new manager.

The 48-year-old former Stevenage, Preston and Peterborough boss takes over at the helm following Warren Feeney's sacking late last month.

Club chairmen Malcolm Temple and Gavin Foxall flanked Westley at this morning's press conference at the Wales National Velodrome in Newport.

Westley has penned an initial 18-month contract until June 2018 and will meet the players for the first time today.

The Exiles sit bottom of Sky Bet League Two after just one win so far this season - Westley's first game in charge will be at Yeovil on Saturday.

When asked if he was confident he could get County out of the precarious position they are in, he said: "I don't think it's ever about turning something around, it's about pushing forward from wherever you are at any football club.

"What I do know is that if you work really hard and you're really smart and know your job you'll always go forward.

"My focus is to get in, know the lads, get to know the football club and do my best to help the football club become better than it is at this moment in time."

Westley also confirmed that Dino Maamria, who he worked with at Stevenage and Preston, is to be his assistant.
