THE younger brother of former Rodney Parade favourite Aaron Collins featured for Newport County AFC's reserves today, as the hosts suffered a heavy Central League Cup defeat to Bristol City.
Lewis Collins, 15, replaced Exiles scorer Tom Meechan, on loan with Vanarama National League South outfit Weston-super-Mare, after 72 minutes of the Southern Group B clash at Spytty Park.
A Newport side captained by Dan Butler and including Jordan Green and Jack Compton lost their second game of the competition following a 4-3 reverse against Portsmouth.
Jake Andrews gave City a 1-0 half-time lead and then doubled the visitors’ advantage before Meechan’s 59th-minute header halved the deficit.
But three goals in the next 10 minutes – Ricardo Rees netted either side of a Harvey Smith brace, the second coming from the penalty spot – took the match out of County’s reach.
Shawn McCoulsky rubbed more salt into the wound with City’s sixth late on.
County: Beauchamp, B Jones, Butler (capt), Parselle (Angel 65), Touré, Touray, Wood, Press (Kavanagh 46), Green, Compton, Meechan (Collins 72). Subs not used: Davies, Hunt.
