NEWPORT County AFC may have to field new signing Abdoulaye Meite and midfielder Ben Tozer in central defence at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

Darren Jones and Paul Bignot are both suspended for the FA Cup second round clash at Home Park.

And fellow defenders Scot Bennett, Kyle Cameron and Jazzi Barnum-Bobb are all 50-50 at best to feature against the Pilgrims, according to manager Graham Westley.

On captain Bennett, the Exiles boss said: “It’s going to be touch and go.”

On Cameron, he said: “He could be involved but I doubt it.

“He’s been out for three weeks nearly now and that’s a long time to be without training so even if he does get himself back on the training ground it’s got to be doubtful whether he’s going to be fit to go.”

And on Barnum-Bobb, he added: “I’m 50-50 on all those lads, they might or they might not make it.”

Tozer is predominantly a defensive midfielder and Ivory Coast international Meite looked short of match fitness as a substitute at Blackpool last weekend.
