SATURDAY’S victory against Accrington was undoubtedly my highlight of the season, but the job isn’t complete yet.

It was a dream afternoon on the Hazell terrace, with a hard-working County rewarded with a victory.

And with Hartlepool suffering defeat to Barnet, County rose from the relegation zone to the joy of the Newport supporters.

Again County worked that little bit harder, playing with a lot more desire than their play-off chasing rivals.

Alex Samuel, my player of the season, put in another superb performance and was unlucky not to get a goal himself.

Joss Labadie was another who worked extremely hard. No matter what Accrington did they always managed to bump into him. He got in the way of pretty much everything.

And Mark Randall has been a revelation under Mike Flynn, with flicks and turns that are rarely seen on the Rodney Parade surface.

Then there’s Joe Day, an incredible shot stopper and County’s hero once again. Day made some truly terrific saves.

County’s win lifts them two points ahead of Hartlepool, a team in a horrendous place at the minute, and the future is now firmly in our own hands.

But survival is not guaranteed; Pools travel to Cheltenham on Saturday, who still could be relegated.

For Cheltenham, they need a point to guarantee their football league status so they will probably turn out in numbers to support their team over the line.

But it doesn’t matter what either teams do, County have to maintain focus to see out the season.

Carlisle is a good test for the Exiles, they’re a team desperately in need of wins in what is a ridiculously tight battle for the play-off spots.

But their form hasn’t been great, and County carry confidence with them in their long journey to Cumbria.

The Great Escape is within touching distance, but MissionFlynnpossible is yet to be complete. I hope the party starts in Carlisle.
