NEWPORT County AFC academy graduate Momodou Touray is on a ‘work experience’ trial at Premier League club Leicester City this week.

The 18-year-old striker was an unused substitute for Leicester's under-23 side in their Premier League International Cup defeat at Sunderland's Stadium of Light on Tuesday night.

Born in Gambia, Touray has represented Wales at international level and has scored two goals in five appearances for the under-19s.

He was originally part of the club’s community-run college programme before being rewarded with a two-year scholarship following his impressive performances for the club’s futsal and South West Counties teams.

Touray has yet to make a competitive appearance for the Exiles first team but has made the bench in League Two on six occasions this season and enjoyed a successful loan spell at Merthyr Town.

He was a key member of the club's under-18 team that won the EFL Youth Alliance Merit League 1 title last season.

Goalkeeper Rhys Davies, who also played in that team, joined Leicester last summer.
