DEFENDER Ben White is the best loan signing Newport County AFC have ever made, according to manager Michael Flynn.

The 20-year-old centre-back won more than 60 per cent of the votes from readers to be crowned County player of the year at the inaugural South Wales Argus Sports Awards on Wednesday night.

“He deserves it, he’s been tremendous,” said Flynn.

“I’d go so far as to say he’s probably the best loan signing the club has ever made.

“I know Karl Darlow would be up there as well but I think Ben White is probably the club’s best loan signing and he’s been tremendous for somebody as young as him.

“He’s never been out on loan before and the way he’s fitted in and taken everything in his stride has been brilliant.”

Other contenders for the Exiles best loan signing include Josh Sheehan, Rhys Healey, Oli McBurnie, Joe Day, Deji Oshilaja, Alex Gilbey, Christian Jolley and Chris Todd.
