NEWPORT County AFC have released five players, while talks are ongoing over new deals for key trio Joss Labadie, Ben Tozer and Frank Nouble.

Strikers Paul Hayes and Marlon Jackson have been released along with defenders Calaum Jahraldo Martin and Jamie Turley.

Veteran goalkeeper James Bittner has also been told his playing contract will not be renewed, although he could stay on in a coaching role.

In a statement the club said: “Discussions are currently ongoing with Joss Labadie, Ben Tozer and Frank Nouble in relation to the extension of their contracts.

“Updates in relation to these players and new additions to the squad will be released throughout the course of the summer.

“The club would like to take the opportunity to thank all players for their service to the club during the course of the 2017-2018 season and wish all those who are departing in the best with the next stage of their career.”

The Exiles also confirmed that loan players Ben White (Brighton & Hove Albion), Shawn McCoulsky (Bristol City), Emmanuel Osadebe (Cambridge United), Aaron Collins (Wolverhampton Wanderers) and Tyler Reid (Swansea City AFC) have returned to their respective parent clubs.

Manager Michael Flynn currently has 14 players under contract for next season: goalkeeper Joe Day; defenders David Pipe, Dan Butler, Mark O’Brien, Mickey Demetriou, Scot Bennett and Jay Foulston; midfielders Robbie Willmott, Matty Dolan, Tom Owen-Evans, Josh Sheehan and Lamar Reynolds; and strikers Padraig Amond and Momodou Touray.
