CONCERNS over the quality of the pitch for next week’s Euro 2016 qualifier between Andorra and Wales have intensified with a second pitch inspection due today.

UEFA have informed the Football Association of Wales that a further pitch inspection will be carried out on the new 3G surface at the Andorra National Stadium, the venue for the qualifier on September 9.

Last Friday UEFA announced that more work needed to be done on the new surface before the qualifier can go ahead.

UEFA believe that if the necessary work has been carried out over the weekend, the game will be played at the stadium and a decision is expected to be made within the next 24 hours.

A statement from the FAW concludes: “The FAW would like to thank all the supporters making the journey to Andorra next weekend for their patience regarding this matter.”

Meanwhile, Reading's Hal Robson-Kanu has withdrawn from the Wales squad due to injury.

He has been replaced by Reading team-mate Jake Taylor.

This is the striker's first senior call-up after representing Wales at under-21 level.

Newport’s James Collins withdrew due to injury last week.

The squad is now: Wayne Hennessey, Kyle Letheren, Owain Fon Williams, James Chester, Ben Davies, Paul Dummett, Chris Gunter, Adam Matthews, Samuel Ricketts, Neil Taylor, Ashley Williams, Joe Allen, Emyr Huws, Andy King, Joe Ledley, Aaron Ramsey, David Vaughan, Gareth Bale, Simon Church, Tom Lawrence, Jake Taylor, George Williams, Jonathan Williams.

Cwmbran’s Danny Gabbidon, who won his 49th cap in the friendly in Holland this summer, is not in the squad but he may have a new club as he looks set to return to Cardiff City in a player/coach role.

The 35-year-old defender has been a free agent since being released by Crystal Palace in June.
