SWANSEA City defender Neil Taylor admits that Tuesday’s opening Euro 2016 qualifier in Andorra is a must-win game for Wales.

The left-back knows that anything less than three points against the tiny Pyrenees mountain principality will put Wales on the back foot in the race for a place in France.

But he’s confident that a side containing world stars like Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey will have too much quality for a landlocked microstate with a population of just over 78,000.

“It’s almost a must-win for us,” said Taylor. “Notoriously we never seem to get off to a good start when it comes to campaigns.

“We need to do that to give ourselves a platform to build from. It’s a big game for us and it’s obviously a big game for them.

“If we’re at our best we’ll get the right result but if you think negatively things can happen; you have to think as positively as you can.

“We want to win every game and we know that this generation has been talked about a lot and we need to deliver.”

The Swans star admits to pangs of jealousy at watching Liberty Stadium teammates Wilfried Bony and Michel Vorm, now at Tottenham, playing in the World Cup in Brazil this summer.

“We’ve come off the back of a World Cup where we’ve been watching people in major tournaments. We want to have a right go at it,” said the 25-year-old, who is now first choice at Swansea following Ben Davies’ move to Spurs.

But does playing regular football for his club, with Davies yet to start this season in the Premier League, put him in pole position for his country?

“You’d have to ask the manager that question, but I love coming to Wales every time,” he said.

“I want to play for my country and I’m enjoying my football at the moment.

“There’s going to be competition at club and country level, that’s how it works.

“You’ve got to be at your best in club football and then hope that when it comes to your country you’ll be picked.”

Meanwhile the Football Association of Wales has announced that the qualifier in Belgium on November 16 will be played at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels.
