NEWPORT'S Lee Evans has has been called up to the Wales squad for friendlies against France and Panama as an injury replacement but Gareth Bale has been ruled out.

Former Newport County AFC midfielder Evans, who is on loan at Wigan Athletic from Wolverhampton Wanderers, has replaced Emyr Huws of Ipswich Town in the squad.

And Bale has been ruled out of the matches in Paris on Friday, November 10, and Cardiff on November 14 by his Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.

The 28-year-old forward is back in training with Madrid after a calf injury but will not feature in tomorrow's La Liga game against Las Palmas.

Bale has not played since September 26 but had been named in Wales' squad.

"Gareth is not going to be in the squad (to face Las Palmas) and he is not going to go with his national team," said Zidane.

"Right now he has had two training sessions with us and what we want is for him to remain with us so that he is ready as soon as possible."
