County win on road against promotion rivals
3:14pm Wednesday 26th December 2012 in Newport County
Forest Green 1 County 2
SUBSTITUTES Ben Swallow and Ryan Charles earned Newport County AFC a vital three points at promotion rivals Forest Green Rovers this afternoon.
The Exiles looked to be heading for defeat after falling 1-0 behind to Steve Brogan’s 47th minute volley for the hosts, who dominated the first hour of the game.
But manager Justin Edinburgh brought on Swallow and Charles in place of Conor Washington and Michael Smith and both scored as the match was turned on its head.
First Swallow’s corner was fumbled in by home goalkeeper Sam Russell with 20 minutes left and five minutes later Charles won the match with a left-foot thunderbolt from distance.
