County and Lincoln get bitter on Twitter over Thomson move
6:28pm Wednesday 2nd January 2013 in Newport County
NEWPORT County midfielder Jake Thomson has joined Conference rivals Lincoln on a month long loan deal in a move already being talked about more than any other involving the Exiles in recent memory.
Thomson started the season as a regular in Justin Edinburgh's side but has found himself on the fringes in recent weeks.
However, the straightforward deal - the only caveat being that Thomson is unavailable for the clash between the two clubs next week - was only half the story, the manner of the announcement with the two clubs becoming embroiled in an unusual dispute on social networking site Twitter subsequently stealing the limelight.
The Exiles confirmed the move today with the following Tweet: "We can confirm that Jake Thomson has joined Lincoln on a month's loan," with a link to their Facebook page.
However, the Imps quickly disputed the news, firing back: "Can you therefore get the paperwork signed and sent to us so we can get the move completed???"
The deal has now been confirmed on the Imps' website though several news sites have picked up on the so-called Twitter spat.
Thomson, who himself broke the news of his departure on his own Twitter page, seemed to see the funny side and was enjoying his fifteen minutes.
"So I'm all over Twitter!!!!" he wrote. "Hahaha, #theyloveme #famous #trending."

We seem to be a bit slow in getting off the blocks in recruiting. Several of our rivals have already swooped. It is obvious especially after the FG game that we need to plug the gaping holes in the defense with new blood sooner rather than later.
Mr E says he has his eyes on 4 players so what is he acually waiting for? Or am I missing something over here in Somerset.(ex pat). See you all at the Wrexham game!

OK all well and good. But why are we not strengthening our team right now?

Which clubs have "swooped" to bring players in - Luton have signed a couple but they can afford to waste money by buying everybody who becomes available. Haven't spotted any other outstanding signings.
If it's "obvious" to you that we have problems in defence, then do you not think that the management may have spotted it also. This transfer window is the most difficult to deal in, just listen to any manager, and we are only 3 days into it.
Have faith in those that are in charge.

I suspect you must still be a relatively young man Exiled Exile !!
If there's one thing that age teaches you it is that no one is really in charge and it 's best to be very wary of those who claim they are !!

I am not convinced that Mr E is looking to strengthen the defense when he seems to be contiunally looking fo strikers. The time is for swift action now!

The defense has been creaky all season with no real action taken to remedy it. On Tuesday the wheels well and truly fell off the defense. So let's stop rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic and get some quality defenders in asap.
