NEWPORT County AFC striker Danny Crow is promising to fire the club to promotion to make up for his miss against Wrexham last week.

Crow made his long-awaited comeback from a hamstring tear in the 1-1 draw with the Exiles’ promotion rivals and wasted a glorious chance to secure all three points late on.

And he’s determined to make up for that, starting at Lincoln City this afternoon (KO 3pm).

“It was nice to be involved against Wrexham, a fantastic game to come back for and we should’ve won the game and obviously I missed a big chance at the end,” he admitted.

“I’m going to make it up to everyone, I want us to win the league and it was one of those where straight away I apologised to the lads.

“I waited eight-and-a-half weeks for an opportunity and when it came I couldn’t take it.

“I’d like to think if I had been fitter I would’ve scored and it wasn’t just me who missed chances.

“I don't mind taking some banter from the lads,” he added.

“It was a clear cut chance, but it’s gone now.”

Crow played 90 minutes in a friendly in midweek and is likely to be on the bench again today, especially with new signings Robbie Willmott and Christian Jolley vying for a starting place.

He continued: “The gaffer wants to strengthen the squad and I say the more the merrier.

“When I’m as fit as possible I know I can contribute and I don’t get worried about that.

“I will be more cautious with the injury this time,” he added, after suffering a pre-Christmas setback.

“I should’ve been more clever (last time) and not risked doing further damage.”
