Exiles ace Lee Evans set for Wolves move
9:09am Thursday 31st January 2013 in Newport County
CHAMPIONSHIP-BOUND: Lee Evans
NEWPORT County AFC have announced that midfielder Lee Evans is this morning set to sign for Championship club Wolves for an undisclosed fee.
The 18-year-old travelled to the Midlands last night for talks with Wolves boss Dean Saunders after a deal was agreed between the two sides.
Evans, who is on standby for the latest Wales under-21 squad, has attracted interest from a host of Championship and Premier League outfit.
He is expected to undergo a medical and agree personal terms this morning.

Turn down £250k each year for three years from consortium at start of season and then sell Lee Evans in January window. Very disappointing indeed
Good luck to Lee Evans -- He's a good prospect

The County can still use the loan market to fill the gap. The January transfer window was just an excuse for club, players and their agents to try and demand silly money from us anyway. Based on recent history I will back JE to bring in a replacement on loan.

Good luck to the player. You can't blame the club for this - if you stand in the way of an 18 year-old going to Wolves, he will stop wanting to play for you - I certainly would if I was in his shoes. I like the transfer window. It creates a round of interest and speculation for all clubs, restricts the moneybags clubs abilities to buy leagues and other clubs abilities to buy their way out of relegation trouble (usually with money they cant afford). Its a fairer system with clubs having to rely on their squad from the start of the season with limited top-ups in January. I dislike the loan system though as some clubs rely on large numbers of loans in/out.
