Hyde 0 County 1

NEWPORT County AFC moved to within three points of the top of the Blue Square Bet Premier with two games in hand after a nail-biting 1-0 win at Hyde.

Christian Jolley's tenth-minute lob was enough to earn County all three points on a day when leaders Wrexham were held 1-1 at home by Alfreton Town.

Justin Edinburgh's men weathered a storm from the hosts after the break to record their fourth successive win.

Games against teams fighting to stay up are always going to be tough, and this was no exception. A dour fight from start to finish. It may only have been 1-0 but thats 3 points in a league where there are no gimme's. Well done County. Top 5 at least I venture to predict.

County keep the style going. I remember Colin Addison saying it's only winning that counts now after we beat Cardiff City - and all us oldies know what happened then. Keep playing with the style thats got you here and you will do it!!!
