WITH Newport County AFC still in the promotion hunt manager Justin Edinburgh will do the unthinkable and give his players some well earned time off!

A fabulous free-kick from substitute Robbie Willmott and an own goal saw County come back from 1-0 down to win at struggling Nuneaton Town yesterday, putting them back up to third in the Conference National.

And with a whole three days before their next match at Cambridge United on Friday, Exiles boss Justin Edinburgh has told his squad to put their feet up.

“We’re giving the players a few days off because they’ve worked so hard of late and to remain unbeaten in the last four games has been fantastic,” said Edinburgh, who was banned from the touchline for yesterday’s match, leaving assistant Jimmy Dack in charge.

“I’m banned for two games for comments I made to the referee after the Tamworth game but I have full belief in Jimmy that he can deal with anything on the sidelines,” he explained.

“We were very disappointing first half. We weren’t brave enough in possession. But we brought Robbie on and changed the system and we fully deserved the win after the second half display.

“We need to win every game and the players know that. If Mansfield win every game then they fully deserve the title but we’ve got to make sure if and when they do slip up we are there to take advantage.

“We’ve come too far to concede the title and we won’t do that. We won’t go down without a fight.”
