A WOMAN found dead in a home in Oxford last night has been named locally as Megan Brindle.

An investigation has been launched and a 58-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after Mrs Brindle’s body was discovered at a home in The Link, Risinghurst.

Officers were called to the house at about 11pm on Saturday after reports that neighbours were concerned for her welfare.

It is not yet known whether Mrs Brindle, who was in her 80s, lived at the address.

The house has been taped off by police and a Police Community Support Officer is standing guard.

Senior investigating officer Det Ch Insp Ian Hunter said: “We are still in the very early stages of this investigation and at the moment, we are following a number of lines of enquiry.

“Although a man has been arrested, this is still very much being treated as an unexplained death investigation and we are unlikely to know more until the results of the post mortem tomorrow.

“Officers are out talking to local residents and offering reassurance today and I urge anyone with information on this incident to please get in touch.”

The 58-year-old man is currently in police custody.

Anyone with information can contact police on 101.
