City of York Council has responded to criticisms of the timing of roadworks on the A1237 Outer York Ring Road.
Rich Cadden, of Chok Dee Gym, said resurfacing work on the A1237 Great North Way roundabout at Poppleton caused huge delays, impacting on local businesses.
A council spokesman said: “The work to upgrade the junctions will enable it to work more efficiently for all road users and provide modern and safe facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.
The works form a key part of the Access York Park & Ride project, and will support the operation of the new Park & Ride bus service from the city centre, via Holgate Park Drive to the new Park & Ride site at Poppleton Bar.”
