Police are appealing to trace a car which made off following a collision on Raby Road at the junction with Chatham Road in Hartlepool.

A 59-year-old man, the driver of the other car, sustained two fractured vertebrae and a broken rib in the collision at around 11.40pm on Sunday, August 4.

The runaway vehicle collided with a silver Vauxhall Corsa, before reversing away from the scene and making off.

It is believed that the car could have been a silver Citroen, possibly a Xsara.

The driver of the Corsa was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees.
