Woeful County thrashed at Rochdale
4:53pm Saturday 12th October 2013 in Newport County
NEWPORT'S worst performance since New Year's Day saw them thrashed by Rochdale at Spotlands.
The hosts were in control at the break with a 2-0 advantage thanks to Peter Vincenti's early goal - a thunderbolt from 25-yards - and Graham Cummins doubled the advantage with a smart finish.
Newport boss Justin Edinburgh switched to 4-2-4 after the interval and his positivity looked justified when sub Conor Washington raced clear and won a penalty, but Adam Chapman saw his weak effort saved by Josh Lillis, killing any chance the Exiles had of mounting a comeback.
And when David Pipe's horrendous backpass sold Lenny Pidgeley short, sub Bastien Hery made certain of the spoils for Rochdale who would've won by a wider margin, but for goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley.
