Conor Washington joins Andrew Hughes in signing new Exiles deal
NEWPORT County AFC striker Conor Washington has followed the example of his teammate Andrew Hughes and signed a new deal to stay at the club until the end of the 2014/15 season.
Hughes announced his new contract on Twitter yesterday and today the club confirmed the news that he and Washington have committed their immediate future to the Exiles.
A statement on the club website reads: "Newport County AFC are pleased to announce that Andrew Hughes and Conor Washington have signed contract extensions with the club through until 2015.
"This is great news for all concerned and we hope County fans will be as excited as the club at tying these 2 talented youngsters down long term.
"Cardiff born Andrew joined the club back in August 2008 when he accepted a place at the Academy and has progressed through the ranks at County to earn a regular first team place and he is already approaching a century of appearances.
"Washington joined the club from St Ives last season in what has been a meteoric rise for the former postman. Conor has settled into life at the Football League scoring 3 goals this season and creating even more assists.
"Both players are hoping to be involved in Saturday's game against Southend United and want to repay the faith shown by Newport County AFC and assist in maintaining the momentum in place since they arrived at the club."
