NEWPORT County AFC have announced that Tim Lane will be leaving the post of football secretary and media officer at the end of the current season due to relocation.

Chief executive Dave Boddy said: “It is with sadness and understanding that we accept Tim’s resignation.

“He has played a massive part in helping to establish the club’s administration as a Football League club.

“I have had the privilege of working with a lot of top quality secretaries during my time in the game and Tim is up there with the very best of them.

“He always conducts his business in a very professional manner and has been a very efficient, diligent and hard working secretary with great knowledge and experience of the role.

“He has been a great team player and a valuable member of the Newport County AFC family.

“On behalf of the chairman, board of directors, Justin and everybody involved with the club I would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him the best of luck for the future.”

On his imminent departure, Lane said: “I am extremely grateful to everybody at Newport County AFC for giving me such a wonderful opportunity to work at such a great club.

“I will always have fond memories of my time at the County and am sure that the infrastructure now being put in place will allow the club to become an established member of the Football League.

“I would particularly like to thank Les Scadding, Howard Greenhaf, Jackie Tutton, Dave Boddy and the staff at the club for allowing me to be part of the family; along with Justin, the coaching staff and the players for making my job easier by always being available and acting so professionally when representing the club.

“I wish the club continued success and I am sure the amazing fans will have many more highs to celebrate in the future.”

A statement from the club concluded: “The club will be advertising the post in the near future and wish Tim all the best in his future ventures.”
