Power of three can help us end on a high, says Chris Zebroski

Jolley scored his first goal since the opening day of the campaign in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Wycombe Wanderers and Zebroski netted his 12th, both thanks to assists from Howe.

The win will almost certainly be enough to keep County in League Two after a torrid post-Christmas run raised fears that they could lose their hard-won Football League status.

Now Zebroski is looking forward to playing with less pressure and trying to build momentum to carry over into next season.

“It’s a relief for the whole club, it really is,” said the 27-year-old striker after once again scoring against one of his legion of former clubs.

“We got some stick before the game, but it's just a really nice win to get the goal in front of our own fans.

“I knew we were on top, there was that relief when we got the first goal, because that was what we needed, and then the second goal was the icing on the cake.

“We are delighted for Christian Jolley, he’s worked so hard for it and he’s been due a goal and deserved it.

“I was very happy with my goal,” he added. “It was a good assist from Rene and I think we deserved it.

“We knew it was important we got a result but we needed the goals to give us freedom.

“It was a little bit tense and with Northampton putting a run together, a lot of teams have been sucked into the relegation conversation.

“We didn’t want to be one of those teams and the win means we can relax a bit more and try and express ourselves in the rest of the season.”

Next up is the Good Friday trip to face AFC Wimbledon and relishing the chance to add to his goal tally and work on the partnership with Howe and Jolley.

“Away from home, at times, we’ve played some nice stuff, like against Chesterfield,” he said.

“We’ve got the three up top, with me and Christian playing off Rene and we made it hard for Wycombe on Saturday.

“We constantly kept trying to turn their defenders and push them in and hopefully we can do the same again.”
