NEWPORT County have been drawn against Luton Town away in the first round of the FA Cup.
The Exiles manager Justin Edinburgh is keen to see his side progress in a competition he won as a player in 1991, denying Brian Clough the trophy that famously eluded him.
“We don’t see the FA Cup as a distraction whatsoever, it’s a very important competition to us,” Edinburgh told the Argus.
“I have great memories as a player and we proved by getting to the FA Trophy final that a cup final is not an issue regarding league form, in fact it can be a help.”
On the Kenilworth Road tie, Edinburgh said: “We would obviously have liked to have been at home and Luton are flying, so it’s a very tough draw for us.”
The first round of the FA Cup will be played on the weekend of 8/9 November.
