NEWPORT County will not be signing ex-Wales international Darcy Blake.

The Argus revealed that Blake was training with the Exiles with a view to a permanent signing, but that is no longer the case.

Blake is no longer with the club and manager Justin Edinburgh is not expecting that situation to change.

“No, Darcy isn’t coming and I am disappointed, I won’t speak too much as it would be better to come from Darcy himself,” Edinburgh confirmed.

“I wanted it to happen, it’s not about finances, I go back to the point about it needing to come from within and for whatever reason I think Darcy has lost that desire.

“But I put on record, it’s nothing to do with the financial side, it’s one of those things where it needs to come from him and we’re not getting that.

“That was is completely dead and we move on to other options, other players on the list.”
