MILES Storey is hopeful his experience of being promoted from League Two with Swindon Town can be a boost to the Exiles.

20-year old Storey arrived in style at County on Saturday, smashing home a fabulous volley that enabled the Exiles to win at high-flying Burton.

And Storey is hopeful that’s just the beginning as he looks to establish a partnership with Aaron O’Connor as he relishes the chance to play as a central striker.

“It was brilliant to score the goal, a great feeling,” he said.

“Obviously I’ve been playing on the right hand side since I got here, putting the crosses in and I’ve enjoyed it, but today was a really big chance to show what I could do upfront and I wanted to take it.

“I only really got one chance and I didn’t want to miss it and lashed it home. I’m a bit more old school like that; I like to lash the ball and would do it again if I was in the same position.

“It’s enjoyable playing centrally, getting involved in the game a bit more.”

Storey would love to repeat his previous promotion with the Robins.

“I’ve been in and around the Swindon team when they got promoted from League Two and it is an unbelievable feeling. The lads here know about it after coming up from the Conference,” he said.

“This time around, playing properly, in a promotion race, it’s a very exciting prospect.

“Once you get in a good position you can’t let it slip, we need to try and win as many games as we can.”

Storey is also enjoying the chance to establish a partnership with Zebroski.

“I enjoyed playing with Zeb which I hadn’t done before,” he said.

“He got some brilliant flick-ons that I misread but that will come with more games, but hopefully there were some signs there of a good partnership forming.

“Once we got the goal the momentum shifted and I was confident we wouldn’t concede, there is a real togetherness in the team and I think we can take it forward.”

Storey thanked Jimmy Dack for signing him and admitted he’s really enjoying himself with the Exiles.

“I have to thank Jimmy for signing me and hopefully I can contribute for the team,” he said.

“We’ve built a platform now, we did the same against Wycombe but hopefully this time we can build on a good win and keep going and keep winning games.

“Winning at Burton is a great result and another win on Tuesday would really make the table look a bit different.”

“If I could keep scoring goals then maybe the deal can be extended, I don’t know, I’m here until the end of the season now and I will work as hard as I can.”
