AFTER earning four points in a week against their promotion rivals, Newport County AFC manager Jimmy Dack is aiming for a further boost to his side’s play-off hopes with a double transfer swoop.

County followed up the 1-0 home win over Luton Town with a dogged display to take a point from a 0-0 draw at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

That lifted the Exiles back into the top seven in League Two and Dack is aiming to add two loan signings to his squad for the final eight matches, starting with Friday’s trip to Accrington Stanley.

“There are one or two in the pipeline and hopefully we’ll have some news before Friday,” he said.

“I don’t want to go into these important games and not be able to play players to a system I want to play.

“I don’t want to leave myself short so if we can bring in one or two we will.

“The club are very supportive of that and we’re all working hard behind the scenes to make sure it happens.”

Dack is excited to be right back in the promotion mix after an up and down six weeks since Justin Edinburgh’s departure and hit out at those who he feels have written off his players.

“It’s going to go right to the wire, there’s no doubt about it,” said the Exiles boss.

“It’s whichever team keeps their nerve and takes their chances.

“It’s a great end to the season and I’m just grateful that we’re in it.

“It’s all about momentum building up to the end of the season.

“We work hard on the training ground and I think you get your rewards.

“You could see the team was working for each other and it’s pretty easy for me to pick the team at the minute.

“We were in the play-offs and we came out and everyone said ‘that’s it, we’re done’ but we’ll just keep fighting on,” he added.

“Let people keep say what they’ve got to say and we’ll just keep going.

“Everyone keeps writing us off and they can keep doing it. Keep writing us off and we’ll keep working hard until the end and give it our best shot.”

Defender Kevin Feely should be fit to face Accrington after missing Saturday’s clash following an operation on his injured hand.

But Regan Poole will again be absent as he plays for Wales under-17s in Russia.

The 16-year-old centre-back played the full 90 minutes as Wales held the hosts to a 0-0 draw in Krasnador on Saturday.

The next match for Wales in the Elite Group is against Austria on Monday before they take on Iceland on Thursday.
