NEWPORT County AFC Supporters Trust is to accept membership applications online as they step up their potential takeover of the club.

The application process on the Trust website was suspended last month when news broke that they were in talks with former County chairman Les Scadding.

A Trust statement released this afternoon says: "Following yesterday's announcement and feedback from the fans the Trust made the decision last night to re-open the online Trust membership. The membership page will be back on line later today.

"This is the Trust listening to its fanbase and [we] are grateful for their feedback. Please keep it up!

"The membership of the trust costs £10 for adults and £5 for children (16 and under) This gives you membership of the Supporters Trust, one vote and more so helping towards reaching the ambition of the fans owning the club.

"This is one of a number of financial models we are considering but due to the demand we feel it is appropriate to re-open.

"We now ask all fans to help and get involved by joining the Trust today and by attending our open meeting on Friday at The Riverfront, 7pm start.

"For those that can't make it, we are looking into live streaming. This will not be confirmed until nearer the time, due to setting up and testing this week.

"Also, let's see a big attendance on Sunday against Championship team Queens Park Rangers.

"Let's bring the enjoyment back into watching the County and show everyone we can make this work.

"If you were considering buying a season ticket, joining the 100 club or Business Club now is the time to buy and help support your club."
