NEWPORT County AFC have signed striker Zak Ansah on loan from Charlton Athletic.

The 21-year-old from Sidcup was a trainee at Arsenal before joining Charlton in June 2014.

He had a brief loan spell at Plymouth Argyle last season, in which he scored on his debut in a 3-0 victory over Cheltenham Town.

During his loan spell at Home Park Ansah also scored in Plymouth's play-off semi-final against Wycombe Wanders.

At international level he has represented England at both under-16 and under-17 level
and was called up for Ghana under-20s as they prepared for 2013’s FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey.

The striker has begun the new season in excellent form, bagging four goals for the Charlton under-21s’ in their opening two matches of the season, both ending in 3-0 victories.

His latest double came against Barnsley at Sparrows Lane with the first coming at Crewe Alexandra.

Ansah's arrival at Rodney Parade comes just 24 hours after the loan signing of Josh Laurent from Brentford, as manager Terry Butcher strengthens his squad in time for the visit of Leyton Orient this Saturday.

Both loan deals will last for 28 days and during his time with the Exiles Ansah will wear the number nine shirt.
