"The former Northern Ireland striker has significant experience of playing in the Football League, with spells at Bournemouth, Stockport, Luton and Plymouth and then progressed into management with a nine-month spell at Salisbury Town as assistant manager, before moving back to his native Belfast."

Feeney said: "I have fond memories of playing in this part of the world, my family home is still in Langstone and I have undertaken my coaching qualifications through the FA of Wales.

"It is also a bonus to be reunited with John Sheridan.

“I saw this as the perfect club to return to the Football League with and I look forward to be involved with the first-team on a day-to-day basis.”

“The season is still in the early stages and looking at the players the club have at their disposal I am confident that we can negotiate our way off the bottom of the table.”

County chief executive Jason Turner added: “The club would like to place on record our thanks to the board of Linfield FC for allowing Warren to take up this opportunity.”

Feeney will link up with the team for training later this week, in time for Saturday’s visit to Mansfield Town. Mike Flynn and Byron Anthony will continue to assist Sheridan.
