NEWPORT County AFC made it through to the semi-finals of the FAW Youth Cup for the second year running after hitting Bangor City for six this evening.
The hosts took the lead early on through Corig McGunigle, but the Exiles youngsters were soon level thanks to Rhys Kavanagh.
An own goal and a Momodou Touray strike put County 3-1 up and in charge before half-time.
Nathan Mathias then saw a penalty saved but Dafydd Jones added a quickfire brace to make it 5-1 and Corey Shephard scored a sixth with a free-kick.
The North Wales side netted twice late on through Shaun Cavanagh and Sam Ashworth but County’s progress to the last four was not in doubt.
The remaining quarter-finals all take place on Sunday with Aberdare Town taking on Penybont, Afan Lido against Gap Connah’s Quay and holders Swansea City hosting MBi Llandudno.
The Exiles were knocked out in the semi-finals last season, losing on penalties to Cardiff City at Jenner Park in Barry.
County: Matthews, Mathias, Wood, Young, Angel, B. Jones, Kavanagh, Shephard, Touray, Bamford, D. Jones.
