FORMER club secretary Graham Bean says he fears for Newport County AFC if they stick with Graham Westley as manager.

County have confirmed this morning that they have “made the decision to part company” with Bean “in the best interests of the club.”

Bean was only appointed three weeks ago but he says he could not go on working with Westley amid reports that the club is investigating the manager’s conduct towards staff members.

The club has not commented on that matter or reports that Westley resigned earlier this week only to reverse that decision.

But Bean believes the Exiles need to axe Westley as soon as possible.

“I have left the club,” he told the Argus. “Graham Westley is an impossible man to work with.

“I’ve been in the game for 20 years and I very rarely fall out with anyone but he needs to learn some manners and start treating people with some respect.

“I reported my concerns about him to the board and if he were to leave the club I’d consider returning.

“But there’s no way I’d be prepared to work with someone of his character.

“There are some good people behind the scenes at Newport County who work hard for the club and I wish them all the best for the future.

“But if they stick with Westley then I fear for them.”
