BOSS Gary Johnson has called on Cheltenham Town’s fans to stand up and be counted when “wily old fox” Graham Westley takes Newport County AFC to the LCI Rail Stadium today.

The Robins claimed a 3-2 win at promotion-chasing Luton Town on Tuesday night to pull three points clear of the League Two drop zone.

Johnson is aware just how important this afternoon’s clash is, and hopes his club’s supporters can rise to the occasion.

“They’re a massive part of what we’re trying to do and, like of all of us, we need support sometimes,” he said.

“When you get that support it really does make you put in the extra that’s needed. You realise there’s a responsibility and these people need a result.

“It would be great if we could get a really partisan group of fans on the day because Graham’s a wily old fox and he’ll be trying all the tricks in the trade.

“When Graham’s in charge of a wounded animal then they become dangerous.”
