NEWPORT County AFC under-18s star Momodou Touray has joined Southern League Premier Division side Merthyr Town on a ‘work experience’ loan deal.
The 18-year-old striker played a starring role as the Exiles youth team, coached by former first team defender Byron Anthony, won the EFL Youth Alliance Merit League 1 title last season.
Touray caught the eye of Merthyr player-manager Gavin Williams when the sides met at Penydarren Park in pre-season and will spend the next three months with the Martyrs.
"We were impressed with Momodou during our pre-season friendly and we look forward to working with him,” said Williams.
“I would like to thank Newport County for agreeing the loan which I am sure will be beneficial to all parties, and it continues the good relationship we have with Newport.”
