GOALS from Padraig Amond and Joss Labadie sealed all three points for Newport County AFC against Yeovil Town at Rodney Parade. Here's what we learned...
1. Exiles demonstrate Bouncebackability again
Once again questions were asked of this side after a disappointing defeat at Luton Town last time out and once again they came up with the answers.
A sixth win of the season took County’s points tally to 21 from 12 games – their best start to a Football League season since 1983 – and means they are outside the play-off places on goal difference alone.
2. Dazzling Dolan back with a bang
The midfielder returned after three games on the bench and created both goals with superbly delivered corners.
As well as his threat from set-pieces, Dolan looked full of confidence on the ball in open play and his vision and creativity showed what County have been missing in midfield in recent weeks.
3. Poacher Amond loves home comforts
The Irish striker now has four goals in five home games since his move from Hartlepool United. When he scores at Rodney Parade, County win.
Amond (above) is now one behind strike partner Frank Nouble in the scoring stakes and if he can find his form away from home the sky is the limit for him and the Exiles.
4. Labadie relishes freedom to attack
The skipper scored his third goal of the season and he could have had a hat-trick against the Glovers as he roamed forward with intent.
Labadie should have broken the deadlock from close range early on and also hit the bar after the break and proved he can be a creative as well as a destructive force.
5. 100 and out for Way?
It was supposed to be a day of celebration for Darren Way (above) as he took charge of his 100th match as Yeovil manager.
But, assuming the chants of ‘Way out’ from the travelling fans weren’t an enquiry as to the nearest exit, the Glovers boss may be on borrowed time in Somerset.
