CAPTAIN Mark O’Brien is set to miss tomorrow’s League Two clash with Barnet as Newport County AFC count the cost of a bruising encounter at Accrington Stanley.

Frank Nouble had put County ahead just after the break but they had to settle for a point at the Wham Stadium as the hosts levelled through substitute Mallik Wilks two minutes from time.

Nouble and fellow striker Padraig Amond were both forced off late on but it’s O’Brien’s persistent foot problem that is Flynn’s main worry.

“I’ve had to take Frank off, I’ve had to take OB off because of injuries and Podge,” said Flynn.

“They’re little niggles and it’s not ideal but we go again on Tuesday.

“Frank’s Achilles is tight. He didn’t train last week and he might not train this week either because the amount of work he did was unbelievable – he did not stop all game.

“Podge was just a knock so I think he’ll be OK but I’m not too optimistic about OB.

“If it was Saturday we’d have a chance because we could get it iced up and rested up but I think Tuesday would be too much for him.”

Joss Labadie missed Saturday’s match as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury but he could be available to take on struggling Barnet at Rodney Parade.

Flynn was frustrated that his side couldn’t hang on for the win against Stanley but was keen to take the positives from the match.

He said: “It was close to the perfect away performance but we lost our way and they could have scored two or three at the end.

“It shows how far we have come that we are disappointed not to have won against the team who are second in the league and there are a lot of positives to take out of this game.”

On Nouble’s goal, which came from a well-worked Robbie Willmott corner, the Exiles boss said: “We worked on that set-play and another one that nearly came off as well.

“We don’t just pull one back and hope for the best, we work on these things.

“We watch what the opposition does as well and we try to stop theirs, which Robbie did well in the first half.

“It was very good and very pleasing because we worked on it.”
