ROBBIE Willmott could miss Saturday’s trip to Swindon Town after being forced off with concussion against Barnet on Tuesday night.

The Newport County AFC utility man also suffered a cut to the head, a bloody nose and a shoulder injury when he was barged into an advertising board by Barnet defender Ricardo Santos just before half-time.

Willmott played on but was withdrawn on 59 minutes after receiving another heavy challenge.

The 27-year-old later posted on Twitter: “Thanks for the messages tonight got concussion, sprained shoulder joint, nose bleed, cut to the head but it wasn't deemed to be violent.”

Santos escaped with a yellow card for the incident, while County’s Padraig Amond was also booked for his part in the ruckus that followed the incident.

South Wales Argus:

“Robbie has got delayed concussion, I think,” said Exiles boss Michael Flynn.

“His head was bleeding, his nose was bleeding and we ended up getting punished for it.

“Padraig Amond gets booked and Robbie, our free-kick taker, is off the pitch.

“I don’t know what is a red card these days and I don’t like seeing people sent off but you can’t have our player booked and our player off the pitch so we don’t get any advantage from it.

“It’s crazy but that’s not why we lost the game. We lost the game from a collective group of errors and the players not listening to what we told them.”

David Pipe was also substituted in the first half after taking a blow to the face, which affected his vision.

“It was a nightmare,” added Flynn. “Pipey has got a big lump on his cheekbone and he couldn’t see out of his one eye.”

But there was good news as captain Joss Labadie finally returned to action after five weeks out with a hamstring injury.

“He’s our captain and I think you’ve seen that we look a different team with him,” said the manager. “We’ll have to see how it settles down now ready for Saturday.”
