Edinburgh reveals talks over new deal

JUSTIN Edinburgh has revealed he is in talks over a new deal at Rodney Parade.

"I'm in talks with the football club about extending my contract by a further year or two," he said.

"I think that shows my commitment and the club's commitment and shows that we are a work in progress.

"Hopefully in the not too far distant future we can return to the Football League.

"That's got to be everyone's aim but it's got to be steady and it takes time. It's slightly unrealistic for this season. We'll have a brand new team.

“I think the players I've brought to the club will make us stronger "What we need to be sure of this year is that we're in the top half of the table. That would be a realistic ambition and a realistic aim.

"Anything else right now would be unrealistic because you can't build championship teams overnight.

"We'll certainly be far more competitive and if we get to Christmas in the top 12 then you will assess it from there and go again."

Wth some ngative news about the N-H Dragons recently, it's encouragng to hear JE sounding so keen to tie himsef to County for a couple of years. A top twelve position by Christmas? I'd settle for that!!
