Wales Open could be reduced to 54 holes

THERE has been no play at the Celtic Manor Wales Open today after heavy rain and storm conditions waterlogged the Twenty Ten course.

The Celtic Manor had to contend with 35mm of rain fall overnight and many bunkers have been washed out and fairways flooded.

Tournament officials are hopeful play will begin at 2pm today, but with the forecast also bad for Sunday, have admitted it might well become a 54 hole event.

Scot Richie Ramsay (-7) leads by one stroke with Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie just three shots off the lead.
