NEWPORT teenager Jessica Evans today retained her Monmouthshire County Ladies title over the Pontypool course, writes Chris Smart.
The 19-year-old Welsh international, a member of the Newport club at Rogerstone, won a gripping final beating clubmate Jordan Ryan on the home green.
There was never more than a hole between the players with them level coming to the last, Evans having lost the 17th hole.
A brilliant approach to within a couple of feet at the pin on the 18th saw Evans complete back-to-back title triumphs.
Earlier Evans had knocked out former international Caroline Cole 6/4 with an immaculate display.
Evans now has her eyes set on a place in the Welsh team for July’s European Team Championship.
