NEWPORT School of Tae Kwon-Do hauled in the medals at the 2013 Welsh Closed Championships at Caerleon University.
Trained by Master Philip Burley (6th Dan) and Master John Cregg (4th Dan) the Newport team once again proved their worth.
The tournament was a huge success with hundreds of competitors from across Wales taking part.
And Newport’s talent was outstanding and the team did their home city proud with a massive haul of medals and trophies.
The Newport winners were: Iestyn Beach (gold patterns), Francesca Bennett (silver sparring), Lana Dowler (bronze patterns, silver synchronized patterns, gold sparring), Lewis Barton (bronze sparring, gold tag teams), Patrick Bull (silver sparring), Michael Cheung (gold tag teams), Marcus Twine (gold sparring, gold destruction, gold tag teams), Jade Howell (silver sparring), Jordan Howell (silver patterns, silver sparring), Joshua Howell (silver sparring), Jacob Marsh (bronze sparring), Anna Orford-Morgan (silver sparring, silver synchronized patterns), Abigail Hobson (silver patterns, silver sparring, double gold destruction), Hannah Norman (gold sparring), Rebecca Thorpe (bronze sparring), Sarah Sullivan (silver patterns), Karl Hole (bronze sparring), Paige Phillips (gold sparring), Siddhartha Rai (silver patterns), Luke Salvi (gold sparring), Zaid Tufail (bronze sparring), Justin Cheung (bronze sparring).
Anyone interested in joining Newport School of Tae Kwon-Do can attend beginner lessons at the Newport Centre on Wednesday (juniors 6-7pm, seniors 7-8pm); Saturday (juniors 11am -12pm) and Sundays (seniors 6-7pm). The first lesson is free.
