CWMBRAN Harriers’ track and field athletes brought home a huge haul of medals from the Indoor Regional (East Wales) and Welsh Championships at the National Indoor Arena in Cardiff.

The 15 gold medal winners were Megan Thorne, Gabbie Fakande, Olivia Howells, Isobel Parry-Jones, Rebecca Chick, Eve Williams, Roan Maloney, Ewan Rosser, Kieran Dawson, Adam Grey, Tom Reynolds and Tom Arnold.

The nine silvers were won by Bethan Powell, Jasmine Dunn, Isobel Williams, Isabelle Rhead, Rebecca Chick, Millie Fakande, Ewan Rosser, Kieran Dawson and Arunn Jones.

And the six bronzes were taken by Imogen Jackson, Megan Shankland, Olivia Chidlow and Lauren Stella.

This success was continued at the Welsh Championships where they came head to head with the best athletes from across Wales.

There was gold medal success for Gabbie Fakande, Lauren Stockley, Eve Williams, Isobel Parry-Jones and Angela Jones, Silver medals were won by Isobel Williams, Millie Fakande, Eve Williams and Tom Arnold. Bronze medals were awarded to Rebecca Chick, Kieran Dawson and Sam Hughes.

Many athletes qualified for the final of their chosen event and numerous personal best times/distances were recorded. The group hopes to continue this success for the 2014 outdoor season.

A small number of Cwmbran athletes travelled to Sheffield last weekend to compete in the British Championships.

Eve Williams qualified for the final of the under-17 women’s 300m and came second, winning a silver medal and recording a new personal best time of 39.97 that sees her ranked second in the UK.
