CWMBRAN Celtic Under 8s ended the season in style by taking part in the Welsh International Super Cup competition and coming away undefeated.

The two day event, held at Cardiff's university playing fields is one of Europe's leading international youth football tournaments.

In the first match of the competition Cwmbran Celtic faced some tough competition in the form of local rivals Henllys Rangers but came away with a 3-1 win. A frustrating second match ended in a 0-0 draw with Undy Bears. After a quick team talk the boys were back to winning ways defeating Aspire academy by 3 goals to nil, while the final match of the day saw a convincing 5-1 win over Porthcawl.

Cwmbran Celtic returned to the Super Cup on Saturday for the second round of games and got off to a flying start with a 5-2 win over Brackla. The boys went on to face some extremely tough competition from PG10 but after some great football from both teams, Cwmbran Celtic came away with a 3-1 win. Penarth Town put up a good battle in the third game of the day but Cwmbran Celtic stepped up to the mark coming away with a 1-0 win. The final game of the competition saw Cwmbran Celtic and PG10 go head to head for the second time that day. It was a nail biting match which saw both teams giving their all but Cwmbran Celtic came away eventual champions winning by one goal to nil.

The tournament was a fitting end to an impressive season for Cwmbran Celtic which saw them lose only one game as an under 8's team.

The boys are looking forward to next season as under 9's.
