MEMBERS of the Torfaen TAGB Taekwondo Club took part in the South West Championships, held at the Oasis Leisure Centre, Swindon, and came home with bag of gold, silver and bronze medals.

The gold medals went to Sofea Levan (girls red belt patterns and girls peewee sparring), Maya Levan (girls black belt patterns and girls lightweight sparring), Megan Farfarakis (girls yellow belt lightweight sparring), Nina Jones (ladies yellow belt patterns), William Davies (boys green belt patterns), Cara-Leigh Edwards (girls blue belt patterns), Cameron Ferrie (boys black belt heavyweight sparring) and Jamie Sullivan (men black belt lightweight sparring).

Jasmin Levan (girls red belt peewee sparring), Alex Williams (girls green belt peewee sparring), Cara-Leigh (girls blue belt lightweight sparring), Scarlett Pearson (girls blue belt middleweight sparring), Jordan Constance (boys black belt lightweight sparring) and Kieran Sullivan (boys black belt patterns) were all silver medallists.

Meanwhile, the bronze medals went to Freddie Davies (boys green belt patterns), Catty Langford (girls blue belt peewee sparring), Scarlett Pearson (girls blue belt patterns) and Kian Griffins (boys black belt peewee sparring).

Team Levan Sisters and Team Catty, Cara-Leigh and Lauren took two gold medals between them, whereas Team Megan and Alex took the silver medal in the team sparring events.

The Club is training hard for the British Championships which will be held in Worcester on the 30th November and promises to be an interesting event in the TAGB calendar.

The club also runs a martial arts lesson for the 4 to 6 years old in Pontypool Active Living Centre every Tuesday at 5pm. All future martial artists are welcome to join.
