THE competitive acrobatic squad from Wye Gymnastics travelled west to Milford Haven to compete in their first event of 2017.

The first to compete were the grade two partnerships where two trios from the club were in action.

The youngest partnership of the squad were Ruby Pratlett, Teah Johnson and Isabella Lewis who competed alongside Madi Paul, Lowri Farrell and Eva Meddins. This was the first time these gymnasts had competed together and they did incredibly well securing 2nd and 1st place respectively.

The grade three partnerships were next to take to the floor and in the pairs event Eleanor Postans and Kyra Liddington and Lucy Davies and Erin Brady competed in the largest group of the day and performed beautifully, landing themselves the bronze and silver medal positions.

The trios competing in the same grade had an amazing day taking all three medal positions with Mollie Harris, Izzie Harris and Lily Burns taking home the bronze medal, Morgan Manning-Paget, Niamh Shapland and Bethan Pearce taking silver and Seren Williams, Millie Blythe and Bethan Peacock taking the championship title and the gold medal position.

The last gymnasts on the floor were the grade four pair of Heather Dent and Carys Dolbel who executed their Irish themed floor routine with style, securing the top score and a gold medal.

The coaches were extremely pleased with the results from the day and stated: "The gymnasts competed exceptionally well and we have seen a marked improvement on performances across the board.

"Most of these gymnasts have their National Grades Championships in a couple of weeks and this has put us in a very good position in the run up to their next event."
