ESSEX Leopards’ star Lukas Volskis still fondly remembers Lithuania shocking the basketball world with a 94-90 win over the United States of America at the Athens Games eight years ago.
Sarunas Jasikevicius hit 28 points to secure one of the most unexpected results of all time.
And the win also made a lasting impress on Volskis, who grew up in Lithuania.
“My favourite moment was Lithuania beating Team USA during the 2004 Olympics,” said Volskis, from Basildon.
“This was because I grew up loving basketball and that was a huge moment in the history of Lithuanian basketball.
“It inspired me to take the game seriously and led to make becoming a basketball player myself.”
